This time next year I’d like to have learnt new words and developed my writing. I’d like to have retrieved my paints from the back of the cupboard and overcome my fear of wasting good sketchbook paper. I’d like to have taken rest seriously, without fear or guilt. I’d like to have found the comfortable balance of plans, and no plans (if that truly exists).
This time next year I’d like to have even more photos on my camera roll of waves lapping under a roseate sunset. I’d like to say with confidence, that I prioritised high-tide sea swims over everything else. I’d like to have swam in the full moon. I’d like to have swam on the summer solstice. In a nutshell, I’d like to have taken every opportunity to swim.
This time next year I’d like to be less dependent on my phone. I’d like to have read my entire unread book pile (and more). I’d like to feel confident when I speak about my interests, passions and hobbies. I’d like to care less about what people think of me.
This time next year I’d like to understand myself better, to have a new-found level of patience with my mind, and how it works. I’d like to have forgotten what burnout feels like, for it to be a distant memory. I’d like to live more softly, with myself and those around me.
This time next year I’d like to have travelled. Seen cultural beauty, eaten different cuisines, taken beautiful photos, felt the sun on my body, and swam in unfamiliar seas. I’d like to have prioritised joy, rather than what I feel I should be prioritising.
This time next year I’d like to have rekindled friendships, nurtured current ones and forged new ones. I’d like to have been a better friend. I’d like to have created new memories, instead of only reliving old ones. I’d like to have had spontaneous moments, rather than only those planned months in advance.
This time next year, I’d like to be proud of what I made of 2025, not only in achievements but in memories and emotions.
Hopefully, you enjoyed this post, if you did I would be eternally grateful if you would share/restack so I can reach more people like you ♥️
Have a lovely day, Allie ☁️
I'll join you in reading the entire unread book pile!
