So, Substack. Here we are. Let's get started.
A great place to start is by asking why. Why this? Why now?
Simply put, I have a lot of interests and a lot to say, often. After being diagnosed with ADHD, I began to let my guard down a bit and realised that it's okay to be someone who has quick, sizzling romances with hobbies and interests. If something piques my interest, you can bet I'll spend countless hours learning all about it. From TikTok deep dives to memorising Wikipedia pages, I'm all in.
Over the past nine months, I've been trying something new: doing things simply to find calm, joy, and happiness. Sometimes, I find something that sticks. Other times, I enjoy it for a while and move on (and that's perfectly okay).
This space is an extension of my journey toward joy, offering a little insight into the things that interest me as a neurodivergent individual finding happiness in everyday life.
Back in 2012, I started a blog called Rush & Teal because I needed a creative outlet, a space to be the version of myself I wanted to be. From that space, I learned a lot about myself, crafted a career, and made many friends.
What I loved about that space was that it was a place for me to write, create, and be myself freely. Slowly but surely, as I moved with the influencer times, I tried hard to niche down and reinvent myself again and again.
The truth is, niches just don't work with my brain. I like the freedom to experiment, try new things, and delight my dopamine-seeking brain.
That's how we ended up here. I wanted to bring back that space with no agenda other than to serve content that brings joy to everyday life.
Whether you need a good book review or an honest chat about ADHD, I'll be writing notes on it all.
Welcome to A Very Good Day! 👋
